For more than 30 years, Hadar Homes has been building homes across North East Victoria and the Southern Riverina.
But when you talk to the team behind Hadar, it quickly becomes clear that the business is about much more than bricks, plans and building sites.
It’s about people. It’s about creating local jobs and opportunities. It’s about understanding the communities they build in. And ultimately, it’s about creating homes where people will live their lives, raise their families and make memories for years to come.
As a family-owned and operated business with offices in Wodonga, Wangaratta and Yarrawonga, Hadar Homes has grown considerably over its 31 years. Today, the business employs approximately 90 people and works with a large network of local trades, contractors and suppliers.
Despite that growth, remaining local and connected to the people they build for continues to be an important part of who they are.
More than choosing a house plan
Building a home is one of the biggest decisions most people will ever make, and rarely do two households need exactly the same thing.
That’s why flexibility has become such an important part of the Hadar approach.
At the heart of the business is the Hadar Lifestyle range, which includes more than 50 home designs. Rather than asking clients to simply choose a design and accept it as it is, the plans can be modified to better suit individual lifestyles, needs, budgets and design ideas.
It gives clients the benefit of starting with a thoughtfully designed and proven home while still having the flexibility to make it feel like theirs.
Hadar also offers several different pathways depending on what someone wants to build.
Hadar Direct provides a more streamlined and affordable building experience, including the ability to build a quote online. Custom Homes caters for clients wanting something individually designed, while Hadar Projects focuses on medium-density developments.
From first-home buyers and investors through to growing families, custom builds and developments, the aim is to give people options rather than trying to fit every client into the same building journey.
A name that still means something
There’s a story behind the Hadar name that says a lot about the way the business sees itself.
Hadar means “honour”.
For the team, that represents honouring their word, their clients and the homes they’re trusted to build.
It’s a philosophy that becomes particularly important when you consider how many moving parts are involved in building a new home.
The Hadar team is the first to acknowledge that building can be complex and that they won’t always get everything right. What matters is how they work with clients when challenges arise, communicate throughout the process and remain focused on delivering what they’ve promised.
They want clients to feel that they’ve been listened to, supported and genuinely cared for throughout their building journey.
One Hadar client, Annalee, described her own experience of building a dream home as a single mum as initially feeling like an enormous and daunting undertaking. She praised the Hadar team for their communication, honesty and integrity throughout the process, as well as the quality of the finished home and the follow-up maintenance program.
That experience reflects something Hadar is particularly proud of: the people behind the homes.
Local people building for local people
Ask what sets Hadar apart and the answer isn’t simply the number of designs they offer or the homes they build.
It’s their people, their flexibility and their local knowledge.
After more than three decades building across the region, Hadar understands the communities it operates in because its team is part of those communities too.
That connection extends beyond the building site.
Hadar supports local events, sporting clubs and organisations including Boys to the Bush, while also investing in the future of the building industry through apprenticeships and training opportunities.
For a business employing around 90 people, alongside its network of local trades, contractors and suppliers, continuing to create opportunities within the region is an important part of its future.
And there is plenty happening in that future.
What’s next for Hadar Homes?
Hadar is continuing to invest in its presence across the region, with two new display homes commencing in November 2026.
Then, in 2027, the business plans to open its new Wodonga Head Office and state-of-the-art Selection Centre.
The investment is part of a broader focus on continuing to evolve the Hadar experience for both clients and staff while remaining true to the reason behind the business: building homes to love.
That means beautiful homes, of course, but the Hadar team believes the experience of creating them should be something clients can look back on positively too.
As the business grows, the challenge is to continue moving forward without losing the genuine, local and family approach that helped build Hadar in the first place.
Proudly part of the Albury-Wodonga community
For Hadar, one of the great things about doing business in Albury-Wodonga is the sense of community.
The region continues to grow and create new opportunities, but it still has the feel of a regional community where relationships matter and people genuinely support local businesses.
It’s a place where people can build careers, raise families and create businesses, which makes Hadar particularly proud to play its own role in shaping the region through the homes it builds and the people it employs.
That same commitment to community is one of the reasons Hadar Homes has chosen to support Business Women Albury Wodonga as a Gold Sponsor in 2026.
For the Hadar team, supporting BWAW is about recognising the many talented women building careers, leading teams and running businesses throughout our region, and helping create opportunities for those women to connect, support one another and grow.
We are incredibly grateful to have Hadar Homes as a Gold Sponsor of Business Women Albury Wodonga in 2026.
Sponsorships like this help us continue creating events, conversations and opportunities for women across our business community. Just as importantly, they give us the opportunity to shine a light on local businesses like Hadar that are investing in the future of our region.
After more than 30 years, Hadar Homes may have grown considerably, but the philosophy remains refreshingly simple:
Local people, building for local people, and creating homes that are designed to be loved for many years to come.
